Out the door
Second week of October and I grabbed it off the chair on my way out the door without thinking. That’s the GEEDUP HANDSTYLE BLACK BABY HOODIE BLUE for you, honestly. Throw it on, forget about it.
The car seat is where I noticed it first, because the fabric sat against my back and I kind of liked that, and the hood bunched up behind my neck like a small pillow, and I left it there the whole drive, which I guess is a weird thing to admit about a hoodie. And then the gas station, hood half up, a receipt crumpled in my fist. No lie, I forgot it was on. I walked to the mailbox in the cold twice before I remembered I was wearing it at all, actually no, three times, because the third trip was just me wandering. Black hides everything. A few coffee drips later, nobody knew.
What stuck with me
It wears like something you’ve owned for years and never had to think about.
Jeans, every time. Sweats once, and it was fine. People ask what it goes with and I shrug, because the black does most of the talking and I never had to match it to anything. Friends who know Geedup spotted it from across a parking lot, and the ones who didn’t just asked where it came from. (Honestly, the hood is my favorite part, don’t tell the sleeves.) So I wore the GEEDUP HANDSTYLE BLACK BABY HOODIE BLUE again the next day and then a few days after that, same hood, same chair.
But I’ll be straight about the hood, it is the whole reason I keep reaching for it, and it took me more than I expected to figure that out, mostly because I kept blaming the weather every time I put it on. Hood up on the porch at six, coffee going cold. I wouldn’t call that a sign of anything, I just like having something warm to pull over my head before the day starts being a day.
My cousin calls the whole line Geedup Hoodies and I stopped correcting him a while back. I was like, fine, whatever. He borrowed the GEEDUP HANDSTYLE BLACK BABY HOODIE BLUE once and gave it back two days late, smelling like his car. That’s his whole review. Some people spell it Geed up, two words, and I get that. Anyway, the blue one’s up on the page if you feel like looking.
